Defense Minister Prabowo Review Training Of 2,500 Reserve Component Students In Bandung

JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto directly observed the rounding exercise which was attended by 2,500 Reserve Components (Komcad) students at the Kopassus Pusdiklatpassus, Batujajar, Bandung, West Java.

The exercise aims to ensure the readiness of Reserve Component members who will later be tasked with assisting the TNI in dealing with military and semi-military (hybrid) threats, the Ministry of Defense said.

“Reserve components are a mandate of Law Number 23 of 2019 concerning National Resource Management (PSDN). The purpose of forming the Komcad is to strengthen the TNI as the main element of the national defense system," said Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 27.

The deployment of Reserve Component members, said the Minister of Defense, can only be carried out if there is a decision by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the approval of the DPR RI and the TNI Commander.

The Reserve Component rounding exercise is an activity that aims to evaluate the training materials that have been received by the students. Rounding exercises are also an opportunity to measure students' mastery of the material.

"The rounding exercise also aims to equalize basic-level military tactics and techniques so that members of the Reserve Component are able to apply knowledge and skills in theory and practice in the field well," explained the Ministry of Defense.

During his visit to the Special Education and Training Center (Pusdiklatpassus) of the Indonesian Army's Special Forces (Kopassus), the Defense Minister received an explanation from the Commander of the Indonesian Army's Kopassus Pusdiklatpassus, Brigadier General Thevi Zebua, regarding the Reserve Component Rounding Exercise.

Not only that, the Minister of Defense also reviewed the readiness of a number of supporting facilities such as barracks and training grounds at Pusdiklatpassus Batujajar, Bandung.

The round-up exercise, which will last until October 7, 2021, was preceded by three months of Basic Military Training (Latsarmil) education at the Main Regiment of the Military Command (Rindam) in four areas, namely the Jaya Military Command, III/Siliwangi Military Command, IV/Diponegoro Military Command, and Regional Military Command. V/Brawijaya, Kodam XII/Tanjungpura.

The Minister of Defense, while visiting the Pusdiklatpassus, was accompanied by the Commander General (Danjen) of the Indonesian Army Special Forces Major General Mohamad Hasan, Director General of Pothan Kemhan Maj. Gen. Dadang Hendrayudha, Head of the Defense Facilities Agency of the Ministry of Defense Marsda TNI Yusuf Jauhari, and Special Assistant to the Defense Minister Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Hotmangaraja Pandjaitan.
