KPK Chairman Warns Jambi Not To Join Corruption In The Sale And Purchase Of Positions In Probolinggo

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri sent a stern warning to all regional heads in Jambi. They have been warned not to be corrupt in the process of filling positions in the government environment.

Firli Bahuri said that in front of regional heads during the Coordination Meeting for the Eradication of Integrated Corruption Crimes in Jambi. This event was attended by 12 regional heads including governors, regents/mayors and their ranks, President Director of PT Bank Jambi, BPKP Representatives, and BPN Regional Offices in the Jambi region, at the Jambi Governor's Office House Auditorium, Monday 27 September.

What happened in Probolinggo Regency, East Java, was deliberately told by Firli in front of the participants. In order to avoid being corrupt, Firli said by increasing the integrity of the assistant regents and not burdening the assistants and staff with tributes.

In this bribery case of buying and selling positions, the KPK has named 22 people as suspects. They consist of 4 bribe recipients and 18 bribe givers.

Bribes were given so that they could serve as village head officials in the Probolinggo Regency Government. Each person is required to pay Rp. 20 million and the village land tribute of Rp. 5 million per hectare.

The four recipients were Probolinggo Regent Puput Tantriana Sari, DPR member Hasan Aminuddin, Krejengan sub-district head Doddy Kurniawan, and Paiton sub-district head Muhamad Ridwan.

While the 18 donors namely Sumanto, Ali Wafa, Mawardi, Mashudi, Maliha, Mohammad Bambang, Masruhen, Abdul Wafi, Kho'im, Akhmad Saifullah, Jaelani, Uhar, Nurul Hadi, Nuruh Huda, Hasan, Sahir, Sugito, and Syamsuddin as suspects giver. They are all state civil apparatus (ASN) in Probolinggo.

"Don't allow a system that is friendly to corruption," said Firli.

The Chairperson of the KPK explained that there are at least seven corruption-prone areas that regional heads need to watch out for, namely related to bureaucratic reform, recruitment, promotion of positions, procurement of goods/services, management of philanthropy/donations, refocusing/reallocating the budget for handling COVID-19 in the APBD, organizing social assistance, national economic recovery, related to ratification, and regional financial accountability.

Firli reminded the role and responsibility of regional heads to realize national goals in the context of eradicating corruption. There are five important roles of regional heads, namely realizing state goals, ensuring political stability and security in the regions, ensuring public safety from all disaster disturbances, economic growth, ensuring certainty, facilitating investment/business, and ensuring the sustainability of regional development programs.

"National goals cannot be realized if there is still a lot of corruption," he said as quoted by Antara.

Firli asked the regional head to evaluate his government's achievements in realizing improvements in the region. He said there are seven indicators that can be used as a measure of the success of regional heads in improving people's welfare, namely the percentage of poverty, unemployment, maternal mortality, infant mortality, human development index, per capita income, and the Gini ratio.

That is why, said Firli, the presence of the KPK in Jambi is a mandate of the law. The KPK has the task of investigating, investigating, prosecuting, executing, carrying out prevention efforts, coordinating, monitoring, supervising with local governments and other agencies authorized to eradicate corruption and provide public services.
