Jakarta Extends Transitional PSBB Until July 30th

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan decided to extend the transitional large-scale social restriction (PSBB) period. This follows the transitional PSBB which previously expired today.

Anies said that the transitional PSBB extension is valid for 14 days, or from 17 July to 30 July. This is done to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases. Where recently, the number of positive cases in Jakarta has recently risen again.

"We decided to extend the phase one PSBB transition again for the next two weeks, before we move on to the second phase," said Anies at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Thursday, July 16.

During this transitional PSBB period, the DKI Provincial Government still limits a number of activities held in closed spaces and gathers large numbers of people, such as cinemas, massage parlors, karaoke places, discotheques and wedding receptions.

"Some operations that are planned to be opened, then we have to postpone it until a safer time. For example, the opening of cinemas and other indoor entertainment venues which were originally planned for the end of this month will be postponed until they show a better trend," said Anies.

In this third transitional PSBB extension, the development of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta is still high. As of today, the number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Jakarta has reached 15,466.

In details, 777 people were treated in hospital, 4,110 people underwent independent isolation at home, 9,857 people recovered, and 772 people died. Therefore, Anies reminded the public to be more obedient to the COVID-19 prevention protocol.

"In principle, if you don't need to leave the house, don't go. Stay inside and all activities are working at half capacity and you must wear a mask. If you still have to do activities outside, wash your hands with soap regularly and keep a distance of one meter under any circumstances. , "said Anies.

As is known, the transitional PSBB started on 5 June and ended on 2 July. Then, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan extended the transitional PSBB period from July 3 to July 16 (today).
