Awaiting The 'Holy Friday' Tradition At The Anti -Corruption Headquarters

JAKARTA - Suddenly, the phrase 'Sacred Friday' is again being discussed by many people. This is the aftermath of the fast-paced issue of suspecting the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, who was supposed to be undergoing investigations in the alleged corruption case in Central Lampung.

Through the Acting Spokesperson for the Enforcement Sector Ali Fikri, the KPK chose to still 'play it safe' to confirm the certainty of Azis Syamsuddin's status. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) itself is still investigating allegations of bribery related to the corruption case that it is investigating in Central Lampung. Although he did not mention names, Azis' name was quickly dragged into this case.

Deputy Coordinator of Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), Agus Sunaryanto, said the public needed legal certainty over Azis' status from the case that ensnared him.

"Yesterday, it was not clear which case, because in the reading from the Prosecutor, Aziz Syamsuddin was mentioned in a number of cases in Central Lampung, Tanjung Balai, and Kutai Kartanegara. Hopefully there will be clarity and legal certainty," said Agus Sunaryanto, Friday, September 24. Even so, Agus assesses that the public is patiently waiting for the law to be issued by the anti-corruption agency. Will there be an announcement this afternoon from the KPK, considering that the suspect was previously identified on Friday? The reason is, the Chairman of the KPK Firli Bahuri has scheduled a summons for Azis Syamsuddin. "Is there a 'Sacred Friday' tradition this afternoon? We'll see," he said.

It is known, the name Azis Syamsuddin appeared in the indictment of a former KPK investigator, AKP Stapanus Pobin Pattuju. In the indictment, Azis gave money worth Rp. 3,099,887,000 and USD 36,000 to Stepanus Robin Pattuju in the bribery case that made the Mayor of Tanjungbalai City inactive, M Syahrial. Azis is said to have given the money along with former chairman of the Golkar Party Youth Force (AMPG) Aliza Gunado.

In the indictment, it was also known that Azis was a bridge between the meeting of the former Kutai Kartanegara Regent, Rita Widyasari and AKP Robin in October 2020. At Azis's house, Robin received SGD200,000 or Rp. 2,137.3 million to take care of Rita Widyasari's case.

Azis Syamsuddin is also said to have contacted AKP Robin around August 2020 to take care of the case involving Azis and Aliza Gunado related to the KPK investigation in Central Lampung.
