East Kolaka Regent To BPBD Head Trapped In OTT, KPK Finds Cash

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said there were six people who were caught in a hand arrest operation (OTT) in East Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. One of the six people is the Regent of East Kolaka Andi Merya.

"In the KPK's arrest activity in East Kolaka Regency, six people were secured including the Regent, Head of BPBD, and aides to the East Kolaka Regency Regent," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri told reporters, Wednesday, September 22.

In addition to arresting six people, the KPK also found evidence in the form of cash. However, Ali did not specify the amount of money.

"In the activity of catching hands, a certain amount of cash was also secured as evidence," he said.

Ali said the six people were now on their way to Jakarta to undergo further examination at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

"Developments will be informed further," he said.

As previously reported, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri said his men carried out a silent operation in East Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi. He ensured that the law enforcement against the riots would be carried out indiscriminately.

"Whoever the perpetrator is, we will not discriminate if there is sufficient evidence," said Firli in a written statement.

The former deputy for prosecution of the Corruption Eradication Commission also ensured that the prosecution team would continue to work to collect information and evidence related to alleged criminal acts committed by a number of parties.

Thus, Firli asked the community to give time for his subordinates to work and reveal the facts behind the arrests of a number of parties in East Kolaka.

"KPK continues to work to collect information and evidence. Please give us time to work, later the KPK will provide a complete explanation after the collection of information and evidence has been completed," he said.

"Because we work based on evidence and with that evidence, it is clear that a criminal case of corruption and finding the suspect is clear," added Firli.
