Police Check IT Tokopedia Regarding Alleged Leaked Data

JAKARTA - The National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate of Cyber Crime is still investigating the alleged theft of 91 million Tokopedia consumer data. The first step the police took was to ask for information from Tokopedia's information and technology (IT) employees.

Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, said that three Tokopedia employees had been questioned. They were asked to describe their company's security system.

"The Cyber Directorate is currently clarifying colleagues from internal Tokoped. Three people have been clarified, including IT security," Awi said in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 14.

In addition, continued Awi, investigations are also still about tracing the IP address trying to enter the Tokopedia site. However, it was not explained in detail about the extent of the tracing results.

"Until now, the Cyber Directorate is still investigating and is still analyzing the IP Address anomaly that entered Tokopedia," said Awi.

The case started in May 2020, then. A total of 91 million Tokopedia user data were said to have been hacked. User data is also traded on social media.

Thus, the management of Tokopedia represented, VP of Corporate Communications, Nuraini Razak reported this case to the police. They claim important user information remains protected.

"We have reported this to the police and also remind all parties to delete any information that facilitates access to data obtained through illegal means," said Nuraini.
