KPK Stops Supervision Of Disclosure Of 'King Maker' Identity In Djoko Tjandra Case – Pinangki Prosecutor

JAKARTA – The process of revealing the identity of the 'King Maker' in the Pinangki Sirna Malasari-Djoko Tjandra case has been completed. This was conveyed by a member of the Legal Bureau Team of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Natalia Kristanto.

Natalia Kristanto explained that her party had no obligation to reveal the identity of the 'King Maker' because the investigation into this case was carried out from the beginning by the Attorney General's Office, not the KPK.

"As we said earlier, we only carry out a supervisory function. The supervision stops when the investigation stops and the legal process is completed," Natalia told reporters at the South Jakarta District Court, Tuesday, September 21.

The function of the KPK, Natalia said, in the bribery case is only to encourage other law enforcement officers to immediately resolve cases.

"This is what we need to straighten out as well as the context of the petition. It is considered that we have stopped the investigation, which investigation. Because we have never investigated the case," he said.

In addition, Natalia saw that the process of stopping supervision in this case was purely due to the issuance of a legal verdict against the defendant and the investigation process had been stopped by law enforcement officials.

"(Termination) This is not only limited to that case but other cases as well. Logically, supervision exists because there are investigations carried out by other law enforcement officers," he concluded.

Previously, the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) had filed a pretrial lawsuit against the KPK. This lawsuit was filed because the KPK is considered not to have developed further about the main intellectual actors in the bribery case between Prosecutors Pinangki and Djoko Tjandra.

MAKI considers that the reason for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to stop supervision in the bribery case between Pinangki and Djoko Tjandra is unacceptable.

"His job now is not supervision. His current obligation is to take over the case," Boyamin told reporters at the South Jakarta District Court, Tuesday.
