JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria hopes that the trial of implementing the odd-even policy at tourist attractions can prevent an increase in COVID-19 cases due to crowds of residents.

This was conveyed by Riza in response to the odd-even implementation at the two tourist attractions that have been opened, namely Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) and Taman Impian Jaya Ancol.

"This is being tested. We hope that this policy from the Ministry of Transportation can help break down congestion and reduce crowds," Riza told reporters in Jakarta, Sunday, September 19.

He hopes that there will be no further increase in COVID-19 cases caused by the accumulation of the number of visitors to tourist attractions.

As previously reported, the odd-even implementation at the two tourist attractions refers to the DKI Jakarta Governor's Decree Number 1096 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Level 3 Corona Virus Disease 2019 Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM).

In addition, it also refers to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 42 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) Level 4, Level 3, and Level 2 Corona Virus Disease 2019 in the Java and Bali Regions.

Meanwhile, the Director of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo said this odd-even scheme was only applied at the entrance of tourist attractions.

"So odd-even places only apply at the entrance to tourist attractions," he said

One of the considerations for implementing odd-even is because the government does not want tourist areas to cause congestion. Moreover, roads around tourist attractions are also used by the general public.
