JAKARTA – The 52nd PWI Jaya Journalist Competency Test, Friday and Saturday (17-18/9/2021), was a success. Of the 17 participants who took the competency test, all of them passed and were competent as journalists.
"This is the umpteenth 100 percent graduation from UKW PWI Jaya," said PWI Jaya Secretary General Kesit Budi Handoyo, Saturday afternoon at the PWI Jaya Secretariat, 9th floor of the Prasada Sasana Karya Building.
So far, UKW DKI Jakarta has contributed as many as 1041 competent journalists from three categories: young, middle and major. Nationally, of the 545 UKWs that have been held, there have been 13867 competent journalists. That does not include the UKW results from the South Sumatra PWI, which also ends this Saturday.
"We are proud that PWI Jaya is the largest contributor to all nationally competent journalists," said Kesit, in a release received by VOI.ID.
Throughout Friday and Saturday morning, the 17 participants of the 52nd batch of UKW PWI Jaya underwent various theoretical and practical exams to fulfill the legality of standardization as competent press workers.
The 17 UKW participants in the Young category came from Radio Sonora (5), Warta Ekonomi (3), and one each from Kabarpublik.id (1), Indo Maritim.id (1), Bogor Update (1), Sinarnews .tv (1), Satunusantaranews (1), Matahari.tv (1), HMS.Times (1), Popmama.com (1), and Warta Kota (1).
They faced four examiners; Sayid Iskandarsyah, Abdul Rahman Lubis, Iqbal Irsyad, and Asro Kamal Rokan. The examiners decided that the 17 participants met the rules as professional and responsible press workers.
"Competence, has become an inseparable part of the journey of all elements of life. All work. What is occupied," said Prof. Dr. Radjab Ritonga, Director of the Central UKW PWI, in his direction at the official closing of the 52nd UKW PWI Jaya.
Prof. Radjab explained, it is not easy to reach the level of competence. On the other hand, the success of being 100 percent competent for UKW organized by PWI is indeed not a necessity. This 100 percent success is rare, because it only occurs in a few areas. There were even participants who filed an appeal, because they felt they were able to complete all the test items, but were found to be incompetent. The appeal mechanism is possible.
Being competent, said Prof. Radjab, is like starting from zero to start being a professional and responsible journalist.
Congratulations to the 17 participants of the 52nd batch of UKW PWI Jaya, all of whom were declared competent for the Young category. Three more years to advance to the Intermediate UKW category, then two years to the Main UKW category.
