As A Suspect In Alleged Corruption In The Purchase Of Natural Gas, Alex Noerdin Has Tens Of Billions Of Assets Including 22 Land And Building Assets

JAKARTA - Former Governor of South Sumatra Alex Noerdin was detained by the Attorney General's Office after being named a suspect in alleged corruption in the purchase of natural gas by the South Sumatra Regional Mining and Energy Company (PDPDE) for the 2010-2019 period.

So how much wealth does he have?

Based on his State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN), which was reported on March 29, 2021, he was recorded to have total assets of Rp. 28,029,274,317 and was not recorded as having debt.

His wealth consists of 22 assets in the form of land and buildings spread over a number of areas, namely in Musi Banyuasin Regency, Palembang City, and South Tangerang City. The total value of these assets reached Rp20,565,669,750.

In addition, Alex is recorded as having transportation equipment assets worth Rp. 165 million, with details of the 1994 Toyota Kijang Minibus valued at Rp. 30 million and the 2001 VW Caravelle minibus with a value of Rp. 135 million.

Next, he is noted to have other movable assets valued at Rp. 6,723,500,000 and cash equivalents with a value of Rp. 575,104,567.

It was previously reported that the member of the DPR RI from the Golkar Party faction was named a suspect after the issuance of an investigation warrant by the Director of Jampidsus.

He was immediately detained after being questioned by the Attorney General's Office on Friday, September 16. The detention was carried out for 20 days from September 16 to October 5 at the Class I Cipinang Detention Center Branch of the KPK Detention Center.

Besides Alex, the Attorney General's Office has also identified another suspect, MM. This case occurred in 2010-2019 where the South Sumatra Provincial Government received an allocation to buy the state's share of natural gas from JOB PT Pertamina, Talisman Ltd, Pacific Oil and Gas Ltd, Jambi Merang (JOB Jambi Merang) amounting to 15 MMSCFD.

This is based on the decision of the Oil and Gas Management Agency (BP Migas) at the request of the Governor of South Sumatra Alex Noerdin.

The Attorney General's Office stated that BP Migas' decision to appoint BUMD PDPDE Sumsel as the buyer of the country's share of natural gas. However, with the argument that PDPDE does not have technical experience and funds, South Sumatra PDPDE in collaboration with private investors, PT Dika Karya Lintas Nusa formed a joint venture company PT PDPDE Gas with a composition of 15 percent share ownership for South Sumatra PDPDE and 85 percent for PT DKLN.

Even though they have named two suspects, investigators are currently continuing their investigation to find other perpetrators who are suspected of co-participating in committing a criminal act of corruption in the purchase of natural gas by the South Sumatra PDPDE BUMD in 2010-2019.
