Ormas Malang Bersatu Urges Police To Detain Gus Idris For Viral Video Of Gancet Couple

MALANG - A total of 12 social organizations (ormas) in Malang Regency visited the Malang Police Station, East Java. The mass organizations questioned the legal process against Gus Idris.

The association of mass organizations on behalf of the United Malang Ormas held an audience with the Malang Police Chief AKBP Bagoes Wibisono. They asked about the police follow-up process regarding the report of the Caretaker of the Thoriqul Jannah Islamic Boarding School, Malang Regency, Idris Al-Marbawy alias Gus Idris.

In the hearing, the mass organization urged the police to immediately take firm action against this boarding school caregiver who is also a Youtuber. The Coordinator of the United Malang Ormas, Yatimul Ainun said that his party was worried about the video showing which was deemed not to reflect Islamic values. Gus Idris has gone viral again after a video of the content of the sexist couple getting hooked.

"We want the negative image created by Idris to get serious attention from law enforcement officials," he said.

Ainun reminded Idris not to create disturbing da'wah content. For them, this content does not contain Islamic values.

"The content on Youtube does not reflect Islamic values, especially those of Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah. Maybe he meant he was doing da'wah, but the method was not good," he said.

The 12 United Malang mass organizations include elements of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Ansor, the Islamic Student Association (HMI), the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) including Pemuda Pancasila.

In the hearing, Ainun claimed to have clarity on the handling of the case. The Polres also openly accepted the hearing urged by the United Malang Ormas.

"Alhamdulillah, in the hearing earlier there was a bright spot. We continue to urge the Malang Police to immediately detain Idris' brother, who in this case is already a suspect," he said.
