JAKARTA - Head of the Epidemiological and Immunization Surveillance Section of the DKI Jakarta Health Service, Ngabila Salama, said that currently there are still 2.5 million DKI Jakarta residents who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.

"There are still 2.5 million people in DKI who have not been vaccinated. I don't know where they hide, I'm also confused", said Ngabila in a virtual discussion, quoted on Wednesday, September 15.

According to Ngabila, millions of DKI Jakarta residents who have not been vaccinated have several reasons, including COVID-19 survivors who have not recovered for 3 months, have comorbidities, and do not want to be vaccinated.

For people who do not want to be vaccinated against COVID-19, said Ngabila, they view that vaccines are not effective in preventing transmission of the Coronavirus. Then, some are worried about side effects, so they are still waiting for certain vaccines that are not yet available in Indonesia.

"So we have to be really careful. We're still looking for 2.5 million people in Jakarta who haven't actually been vaccinated. Is it really the population data that we need to revitalize? If it's related to the phenomenon of people choosing vaccine brands, we don't recommend it", she said.

Ngabila said, out of a total of 8.9 million Jakarta residents aged 12 years and over, only 6.4 million Jakarta residents have been vaccinated with the first dose and 4 million have been vaccinated with the second dose.

If you add non-DKI residents, currently the provincial government has injected vaccinations to 10.1 million people. So, currently, the DKI Provincial Government is targeting 14 million residents who are active in Jakarta to be vaccinated.

To achieve the vaccination target according to the target, where there are still 2.5 million DKI residents who have not been vaccinated, the DKI Provincial Government will write to them to be reminded to take vaccinations.

"The 2.5 million Jakarta residents have been combed out correctly. In fact, we plan to write a letter. We are still doing the matching of individual data", said Ngabila.

"We hold meetings every two days with the sub-district head, the village head, led by the Regional Secretary as the Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19, assisted by the TNI and Police. That is our target that must be completed", she continued.
