After The Jakarta Contingent To PON Papua, Anies Asks To Win The General Champion

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan symbolically released the departure of the DKI Jakarta Contingent, consisting of athletes, coaches, and officials to the 20th National Sports Week (PON) competition in Papua.

In the release event, Anies targeted the Jakarta contingent to win the overall championship. Because, at the 2016 West Java PON XIX, the Capital City team only won third place from the number of medals.

"If we look at the statistics, the results of DKI Jakarta in previous years, we used to be at the top, only in 2016 we were not the overall champion. In fact, in 2012 we were able to achieve it. God willing, in this PON we will succeed again as overall champion. This is because DKI Jakarta has won the PON 20 times, Jakarta has been able to win 11 times, and God willing, it ends up being the overall winner for 12 times," said Anies at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, September 15.

Anies saw that the preparations for the Jakarta contingent were quite mature, both physically and mentally. So, Anies can hope that athletes from the capital city can make achievements at the Papua PON.

"This is not just a hope from the government, but the hope of pride from all Jakartans. Please put it on your shoulders regarding that hope. Every time you enter a match, remember that the name Jakarta is placed on your shoulders, do your best, give it wholeheartedly, full energy to be able to win, at the same time maintain sportsmanship, and be an example for the world of sports," said Anies.

For information, the total number of athletes in DKI Jakarta who will take part in 37 sports at the 20th PON Papua is 735 people. If you add the officials and coaches, the total number of contingents departing for Papua is around 1,350 people.
