Investigating Fire Crimes, 7 Tangerang Prison Officials Are Examined By Police, Kalapas Included

JAKARTA - The police will examine seven senior officials at the Tangerang Class I Prison in their investigation of the alleged negligence and intent behind the fire incident. One of them is Kalapas.

"Then seven people are scheduled to be investigated today," said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Yusri Yunus, to reporters, Tuesday, September 14.

Apart from Kalapas, six prison officials will be examined starting from the guard to the administration. Possibly, this examination will explore all the mechanisms that run in prisons.

"There is still the Head of Administration, Head of KPLP, Head of Bakum, Head of Security, and Head of Maintenance," said Yusri.

However, said Yusri, of the seven invited to undergo the examination, only two were present. So, if the five high-ranking officials are not present, a second call will be sent.

"Two of the new arrivals, the Head of Administration and the Head of Administration from the Tangerang Class I Prison," said Yusri.

Meanwhile, the Tangerang Class I Prison caught fire on Wednesday, September 8, in the early hours of the morning. As a result, 44 inmates died due to the incident.

Dozens of prisoners were not able to save themselves. Because when the fire broke out, the prison cell was locked. Meanwhile, officers did not have time to open the cells of the victims.

The police stated that there were allegations of negligence and intentional crime behind this. Currently, the case has moved to the investigation stage.
