Tangerang Kalapas Will Be Investigated For Deadly Fire Next Week

JAKARTA - The police will examine the Tangerang Class I Kalapas in connection with the dispatch of a case of alleged negligence behind the deadly Tangerang prison fire incident. This examination is carried out after the status of the case is upgraded to investigation

"Witness examination was conducted at the Tangerang Class 1 Kalapas," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Saturday, September 11.

Not only that, investigators also plan to examine several other witnesses. From prison officers to firefighters. This examination is to determine the suspect behind the deadly fire incident.

"(Inspection) 14 prison employees who carried out picket on that day, 7 inmates, examination of 3 firefighters, 3 witnesses from PLN," said Ramadhan.

It is planned that the inspection will be carried out next week. A summons for an inspection has also been sent.

"So the plan is that after the summons an examination will be carried out, the examination as a witness will be carried out on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the Polda Metro Jaya," said Ramadhan.

The police stated that the status of the deadly Tangerang Class I prison fire case has been raised to be investigated. Thus, later there will be suspects of alleged criminal acts of negligence or intentional.

The Tangerang Class I prison caught fire on Wednesday, September 8, in the early hours of the morning. As a result, 44 inmates died due to the incident.
