DKI Disbud Issues Recommendations For Restoring The Transformation Of The Sarinah Building

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Culture Service (Disbud) provides recommendations for restoration in the transformation of the Sarinah building, Central Jakarta.

The building which is owned and managed by PT Sarinah (Persero) is currently carrying out a transformation project to beautify itself.

The head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Culture Service, Iwan Henry Wardhana, said that the recommendations issued were clear evidence that efforts to preserve and develop the city could complement each other and not hinder each other.

Quoted from the statement from the DKI Provincial Government, the issuance of a recommendation letter for restoration in the transformation of the Sarinah building is part of the protection efforts carried out by the DKI Jakarta Disbud for Cultural Conservation Buildings, suspected Cultural Conservation Objects, or buildings located in the DKI Jakarta Restoration Area.

"The Sarinah building has a historical background that should not be forgotten in the history of the development of the city in Jakarta. In Sarinah later, people will enjoy it not only for shopping, but also elements of tourism, history and the rich culture of the archipelago," explained Iwan, Friday, September 10. .

In providing recommendations, the Disbud of DKI Jakarta Province asked for consideration from the Restoration Session Team (TSP) consisting of conservation experts from various disciplines, until a recommendation letter for restoration was issued.

Sarinah is a tall building or the first skyscraper in Jakarta, as well as a modern mixed building consisting of 1 basement floor and 14 floors. This building has an international style architecture with the main feature there is a tower at the back of the plaza.

In its transformation, PT Sarinah (Persero) plans to build a non-permanent parking building. The parking building will be located in the east position of the Sarinah building, so as not to block the exposure of the Sarinah building from Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Wahid Hasyim, and Jalan Sunda.

The parking building consists of 4 floors with a design that considers green space to respond to the Menteng Cultural Heritage Area, so that visuals are not obstructed, and also maintain the quality of greenery.

Sarinah building historically is one of the buildings that was built in conjunction with other major projects. The big project consists of the Medan Merdeka Square and the National Monument, Jalan MH Thamrin, and the Sarinah building along with the Plaza and the reflection pool in front of it.

The construction of this large project was initiated by the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno, after visiting several countries in the world. The construction of these large projects is intended as an effort to shape the character of the nation and show the greatness of the newly independent nation and is on par with other major countries in the world.
