Announces Examination Results Of Aide Lili Pintauli, KPK: Witness Doesn't Know The Suspect In The Tanjungbalai Sale And Purchase Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has finally announced the results of the examination of the aide to the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar, Oktavia Dita Sari. In fact, he was examined as a witness related to the bribery case of buying and selling positions at the Tanjungbalai City Government on Monday, September 6.

As a result, the KPK admitted that it did not get any information from the examination. The reason is that Oktavia as a witness admitted that he did not know the suspects in this case, namely the inactive City Secretary Tanjungbalai Yusmada and the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial.

"From the results of the investigation team, the person concerned explained that he did not know the suspects and did not know the actions of the suspects. Of course we only found out after conducting an investigation," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters, Friday, 10 September.

In fact, usually the Corruption Eradication Commission will summon witnesses who are suspected of knowing or hearing about corruption cases that are being investigated.

Although it did not receive any information, the KPK confirmed that it would not stop investigating the case of buying and selling positions in Tanjungbalai. Ali said the KPK investigators would schedule an examination of other witnesses.

In addition, the KPK will also continue to investigate this case and collect the necessary evidence.

Ali hopes that the public will continue to support the KPK in investigating this case. Moreover, this case of buying and selling positions has hurt people's expectations to have public officials who are able to implement good governance practices.

"We hope that the public will continue to provide support so that the KPK can thoroughly investigate this corruption case," he said.

As previously reported, the absence of information related to the results of the examination of Lili Pintauli's aide received the spotlight from the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman. He suspects that the KPK is trying to hide something because it gives different treatment to witnesses by covering up the results of the examination.

"The Corruption Eradication Commission's attitude in not announcing the results of the examination of Mrs. Lili's aide indicates that there is something she is trying to hide. Even though the witness has a relationship with Mrs. Lili, who is a leader, it does not mean that there should be a difference in treatment with other witnesses," said Boyamin in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, September 10th.

Boyamin also mentioned that the closedness of the results of this examination is not in line with the transparency that is often voiced by the KPK to other institutions.

"How can the KPK demand transparency from other parties if they are closed. If I'm not mistaken, this act can be categorized as hypocrisy," he said.

He reminded the anti-corruption commission to comply with the principle of openness as regulated in Article 5 of Law Number 30 of 2002 concerning the KPK.

"In carrying out its duties and authorities, the KPK is based on legal certainty, openness, accountability, public interest, and proportionality," said Boyamin.
