24 Hours After Giving Birth, Vocational School Students In Wonogiri Cant Throw Their Babies, Mouth Covered With Plaster

WONOGIRI - The Wonogiri Police Criminal Investigation Unit revealed a case of finding a baby girl in a cardboard box by residents in Donoharjo Village, RT 005/02, Wuryorejo Village, Wonogiri District, Central Java.

The mother of the poor baby is apparently a Class X student at one of the Wonogiri City Vocational Schools.

"We have succeeded in uncovering the case where the baby girl was found. The perpetrator is still undergoing treatment at the hospital," said Wonogiri Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Dydit Dwi Susanto while investigating the case at the Wonogiri Police Headquarters, Antara, Friday, September 10.

Information on the discovery of the baby was received by officers from the community on August 24 at around 07.00 WIB. The baby was wrapped in a blue cloth and his mouth was covered with a brown tape. There was dried blood on the body and the cloth used to wrap the baby.

The police then carried out investigations in several places until they received information that the perpetrator at 04.30 WIB had bought sanitary napkins at a shop owned by a neighbor.

The shop owner was suspicious of the perpetrator, because he doesn't usually buy sanitary napkins at his shop.

In addition, said the Chief of Police, the way he walked was a bit strange or not like a healthy person.

Based on this information, the police then met the parents of the perpetrator and explained the information. The police then checked the perpetrator to the Wonogiri District Hospital to ensure his health condition.

The results of the doctor's examination at the hospital, said the Police Chief, explained that the perpetrator had given birth or less than 24 hours. The perpetrator admitted that the one who dumped or put the baby on the side of the road shortly after the baby was born.

In addition, the police also found the placenta of the baby in the kitchen of the perpetrator's house. The perpetrator's mode of throwing or putting the baby on the side of the road is because he is still a student and does not yet have a husband.

The police also managed to find a number of evidences, including one brown cardboard with dried blood spots, one blue cloth with dried blood on it, one pink cloth with a pattern of dried blood on it, one brown plaster, one black and green scissor.

"The baby's mother is still undergoing treatment at the hospital, and the baby is being treated by the Wonogiri II Health Center, in a healthy condition," said the Police Chief.

For the actions of the perpetrators, Article 308 of the Criminal Code can be charged with a maximum imprisonment of five years and six months.
