The Results Of The Examination Of Aide Lili Pintauli Were Closed Tightly, MAKI: Something Was Trying To Be Hidden By The KPK

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) several days ago conducted an examination of the aide to the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar, Oktavia Dita Sari. However, until now the results of the examination have not been made public.

In response to this, the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman suspected that the KPK was trying to hide something. According to him, the KPK should not give different treatment to witnesses by covering up the results of their examinations.

"The Corruption Eradication Commission's attitude in not announcing the results of the examination of Mrs. Lili's aide indicates that there is something she is trying to hide. Even though the witness has a relationship with Mrs. Lili, who is a leader, it does not mean that there should be a difference in treatment with other witnesses," said Boyamin in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, September 10th.

Boyamin also mentioned that the closedness of the results of this examination is not in line with the transparency that is often voiced by the KPK to other institutions.

"How can the KPK demand transparency from other parties if they are closed. If I'm not mistaken, this act can be categorized as hypocrisy," he said.

Furthermore, he reminded the anti-corruption commission to comply with the principle of openness as regulated in Article 5 of Law Number 30 of 2002 concerning the KPK. "In carrying out its duties and authorities, the KPK is based on legal certainty, openness, accountability, public interest, and proportionality," said Boyamin. As previously reported, the examination of Oktavia Dita Sari was carried out on Monday, September 6. He was examined as a witness to complete the file of suspect Yusmada, who is the Regional Secretary of Tanjungbalai City.

"The investigation team has scheduled the summons of witnesses for the suspect YM et al, Oktavia Dita Sari, who is an aide to the KPK leadership," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters, Monday, September 6.

However, when asked about the results of the examination, Ali Fikri did not provide any information. Whereas normally, he will inform what is being investigated by investigators through witnesses.

For information, Lili Pintauli was proven to have communicated with the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial. This is evident from the decision of the KPK Supervisory Board which stated that Lili was proven to have violated ethics and was severely punished in the form of cutting her basic salary by 40 percent for 12 months.

In the ethical trial decision, Lili was said to have communicated with Syahrial, who at that time was still a suspect by stating that the file for the alleged bribery he had committed was on the table. In addition, he also had time to ask Syahrial to contact a lawyer in Medan named Fahri Aceh to help him.

Meanwhile, regarding the alleged sale and purchase of positions at the Tanjungbalai City Government, the KPK has appointed Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial and Yusmada. KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto said his party had examined 47 witnesses in this case and confiscated Rp100 million as evidence.
