Denpasar District Court Judge Sentenced Police Owner Of Methamphetamine To 11 Years In Prison, Fines IDR 1 Billion

DENPASAR - The panel of judges at the Denpasar, Bali District Court, chaired by I Putu Suyoga, sentenced the police to possessing 54 packages of methamphetamine with a prison sentence of 11 years.

"To try, to impose a prison sentence of 11 years, a fine of Rp. 1 billion with a subsidiary for three months in prison," said the panel of judges known to I Putu Suyoga in a virtual hearing at the Denpasar District Court, Bali, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 9.

In the trial, the panel of judges declared the defendant legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act, namely unlawfully or unlawfully possessing, storing, controlling or providing narcotics class I, not plants, in accordance with Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 Year 2009 on Narcotics.

From the defendant, evidence was obtained in the form of 52 plastic clips, each plastic clip containing clear crystals containing methamphetamine with a total net weight of 84.34 grams.

The defendant, who was accompanied by legal counsel from PBH Posbakum Denpasar, Ni Wayan Pipit Prabhawanty, stated that he accepted the verdict. Meanwhile, public prosecutor Made Ayu Citra Maya Sari said she was thinking about it.

Previously, the Public Prosecutor demanded that the defendant be sentenced to 15 years in prison, reduced while the defendant was in custody and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

Initially, the defendant was arrested on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at around 13.00 WITA, in front of the Al Furqon Mosque, Jalan Gatot Subroto Barat Banjar, Hamlet Sari, Padangsambian Kaja Village, West Denpasar District, Denpasar City.

The officers then conducted a search of the defendant and continued at the defendant's house in the Tabanan Regency, Bali.

In addition, the defendant admitted that the narcotics were obtained from a person named Putu (DPO). Earlier on Friday, May 7, 2021, Putu (DPO) asked the defendant to take a package of methamphetamine weighing 100 grams, which was then broken down into 51 packages and one package.
