Antemortem Data For Victims Of The Tangerang Prison Fire Tragedy Only Collected 31 Samples

JAKARTA - The National Police's Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team has pocketed 31 DNA samples from the families of inmates who were victims of a deadly fire at the Class I prison in Tangerang. The sample will be used for the identification process of the body.

"So far, the team has had 31 DNA samples. This is very useful for the team to identify the bodies that are currently available by the team," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Thursday, September 9.

But the number of samples was not fully covered. Because, received by the Police Hospital as many as 41 bodies.

Until now, not all of the victims' families have submitted ante mortem data.

"35 families have come to the antemortem post, have provided their data," said Rusdi.

Therefore, the National Police appealed to the families of the victims of the Tangerang prison fire to immediately submit antemortem data. That way, all the bodies can be identified.

The Tangerang Class I prison caught fire on Wednesday, September 8, in the early hours of the morning. As a result, 44 inmates died due to the incident.

They could not save themselves because they were trapped in a holding cell. Because, at that time their detention cell was locked.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. However, it is suspected that the cause was an electric short circuit.

However, as the investigation process progressed, the police found a suspected criminal act behind the fire incident. To prove it, 20 witnesses have been questioned.
