JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Laoly, promised compensation worth Rp. 30 million to each of the families of prisoners who were victims of the fire at the Class I Penitentiary (Lapas) Tangerang, Banten.

"As part of the embodiment of grief, we will provide compensation worth Rp. 30 million to each victim's family," said Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly in Jakarta, Wednesday.

In addition to compensation, Yasonna also instructed his staff to help carry out the funeral procession until it was completed.

The Ministry of Law and Human Rights has also formed five teams to handle the incident, one of which is helping with the burial, burial and delivery of the bodies.

"We will assist in the relocation of the bodies to completion. Of course this process will take place after the identification of victims by Inafis Police Headquarters is complete," said Yasonna.

Especially for the inmates who suffered injuries, said the Professor of Criminology at the Police Science College, all of them have been treated at the hospital and received the best possible treatment. the fire.

"On behalf of the ranks of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, in particular the Directorate General of Corrections, I apologize to the families of the victims and the Indonesian people," he said.

Previous news informed that the fire that broke out in the Class I prison in Tangerang resulted in 41 deaths. It is suspected that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.
