Coordinating Minister Luhut Praises Bogor COVID-19 Task Force For Implementing Odd-Even At The Peak

BOGOR - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan praised the Bogor Regency COVID-19 Handling Task Force, West Java for implementing odd-even traffic engineering on the weekend on the Puncak Line.

"I appreciate what has been done in Bogor Regency, namely the implementation of mobility restrictions with an odd-even system for vehicles that will enter the Peak," said Luhut during a coordination meeting on the virtual evaluation of the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 7 evening.

According to him, the effort to limit the mobility of citizens contributes to controlling the public's euphoria as the level of PPKM implementation decreases.

"This can control the movement of people who continue to increase as the PPKM level decreases. We will also continue to monitor daily developments in Java and Bali," said Luhut.

Bogor Police Chief AKBP Harun said that his party noted that the implementation of the odd-even system on the Puncak Line, Bogor Regency, West Java, succeeded in reducing 3,602 four-wheeled vehicles from Jakarta.

"There was a difference of 3,602 vehicles when the odd-even trial was implemented, according to data on vehicles from Jakarta that came out at the Ciawi Toll Gate," said Harun.

According to him, based on vehicle data from the direction of Jakarta that came out at the Ciawi Toll Gate on Saturday (4/9) there were 39,654 vehicles heading to Bogor, lower on Saturday (28/8), before the odd-even vehicle was enforced as many as 43,236 vehicles.

Harun explained that the reduction in the volume of vehicles entering the Peak Route when it was enforced odd-even on Saturday (4/9), was more than 3,602 vehicles. The reason is that of the 39,654 vehicles that came out of the Ciawi Toll Gate, some were turned back, namely vehicles with odd number plates.

"The reduction in vehicles on the Peak Line is more significant, because we turn back the vehicles that come out of the Ciawi Toll Road whose plates do not match the odd-even plates. Then the motorbikes are also turned around a lot, it doesn't count," said Harun again.

Bogor Regent Ade Yasin said the odd-even trial was carried out for two weekends since September 3, 2021. There are seven odd-even checkpoints on the Bogor Peak Route, namely Ciawi Toll Gate, Simpang Gadog, Rainbow Hills, Cibanon flow closing post, closing post Dam currents, and two locations in the Sentul area.

In the odd-even trial, every private vehicle whose license plate does not match the even or odd number on that date will be reversed.

However, there are a number of types of vehicles that fall into the category of exceptions for implementing the odd-even system, namely fire engines, ambulances, medical personnel, TNI-Polri service vehicles, public transportation, online transportation, and logistics transportation.
