Indonesian Navy Encourages Acceleration Of Completion Of The KRI Cakra-401 Submarine

SURABAYA - The Indonesian Navy's Inspector General (Irjenal) Rear Admiral TNI Sunaryo has pushed for the acceleration of the completion of the overhaul progress of the KRI Cakra-401 submarine which is now being worked on by PT PAL Indonesia.

Sunaryo, during a working visit to PT PAL Indonesia, inspected the shipyard located in the Tanjung Perak area, Surabaya, Tuesday, asserting that the purpose of the visit was specifically to focus on directly observing the work on the KRI Cakra-401 submarine.

Sunaryo hoped that the KRI Cakra-401 submarine could soon join and support TNI activities in the defense of the Republic of Indonesia.

This is because all projects carried out by PT PAL Indonesia are supervised by various independent parties, especially from the government, including elements of the Indonesian Navy Inspector General (Irjenal).

In response, PT PAL Indonesia's Chief Operating Officer (COO) Iqbal Fikri, said the progress of the KRI Cakra OVH project had reached 97.5 percent.

"Although the COVID-19 pandemic has hampered the arrival of equipment and experts, we are still optimistic about completing the project and achieving on time delivery," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 7.

He said, in parallel, improvements were also being made to special parts of the KRI Cakra-401 Overhaul project even though they were outside the scope of work.

"This is a manifestation of PT PAL Indonesia's commitment in providing the best service," said Iqbal, in a press release.

Meanwhile, during the visit, he accompanied the SEVP of PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) Rear Admiral TNI Catur Sudarsono, Dansatgas OVH KRI Cakra-401 Colonel Indra Wijaya, Kapro OVH KRI Cakra-401 Colonel Wiranto, and all relevant Division Heads.
