KENDARI - Police are pursuing the alleged perpetrator of beating a member of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sultra) Bripda Y, after playing futsal.
Head of Public Relations of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Kombes Ferry Walintukan said the alleged beating occurred on Jalan Kilometer 40 Boulevard, Mokoau Village, Kambu District, Kendari at around 20.20 WITA.
"It is true, Monday (6/9) night at 20:20 WITA there was a beating against members of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police. The perpetrators are currently under investigation," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 7.
He said that the personnel of the Biddokes Polda Sultra Bripda Y were allegedly ganged up by an unknown person (OTK), after playing futsal in a field in Kendari City.
Ferry explained that Bripda Y was beaten while crossing Jalan 40 Boulevard. At that time the two-wheeled vehicle belonging to the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police was kicked by an OTK vehicle. However, when he stopped his vehicle to ask who the culprit was, that's where Bripda Y was suspected of being beaten.
"He was looking for who kicked him then that's where the fight broke out, and he was beaten maybe friends rather than opponents," said Ferry.
After being beaten, continued Ferry, Bripda Y then drove his vehicle to Bhayangkara Hospital.
"The person concerned after being beaten up was still riding a motorbike and going to the hospital for a post-mortem," said Ferry.
In addition to pursuing the perpetrators, the police are also investigating the alleged abuse case involving members of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police.
