Two Reporters Are Examined Regarding Denny Siregar's Case Calling Santri Prospective Terrorists

JAKARTA - Investigators have investigated two complainants on the alleged case of insulting students and Islamic boarding schools by social media activist Denny Siregar.

Denny was reported by the Tasikmalaya Mujahid Forum regarding the upload of a video containing santri children seen wearing tauhid attributes. The upload is given a narrative or the title 'ADEK-ADEKKU CANDIDATE TERRORIST ABANG SAYANG'.

"The total number of witnesses we have examined is two people. Both of them are from the reporting party," said Kasat Reskrim Tasikmalaya Police, AKP Yusuf Ruhiman to VOI, Monday, July 6.

After conducting an examination of the reporter, the investigator then asks for information or views from the expert. The goal is that this case is more objective.

He said, after the reporter and the expert have been asked for information, then the investigator will summon the reported, namely Denny Siregar, to be questioned.

"The reported party will later be after expert examination," said Yusuf.

Denny was reported by the Tasikmalaya Mujahid Forum on July 2. Denny was reported under the ITE Law because he was deemed to have insulted the students through the photos he uploaded.

"Those concerned about the report are threatened by Article 45 A of the Information and Electronic Transaction (ITE) Law," Yusuf said.

Later, it was discovered that the photo uploaded by Denny Siregar was a photo of the students of the Darul Ilmi Tahfidz Qur'an Islamic Boarding School in Tasikmalaya City. The photo was taken when the students participated in a peaceful 313 demonstration in front of the Istiqlal Mosque in 2019.
