JAKARTA - Chairman of the Working Committee (Panja) of the Draft Law (RUU) on the Elimination of Sexual Violence (PKS) Willy Aditya said his party agreed to replace the PKS Bill.

After presenting various stakeholders from both supporting and opposing groups, the draft of the PKS Bill was changed to the title of the Draft Law on the Crime of Sexual Violence (RUU TPKS).

In the TPKS Bill there are several editorial and material changes as part of the dialectic that occurs so that the discussion of this bill continues to progress (progress).

The TPSK Bill currently has the status of an initial draft. This means that various inputs and views are still open in the discussion of this bill in the next stages. "The fact that the birth of this new title and material has received criticism from a number of groups is quite realized and understandable," said Willy Aditya to reporters, Tuesday, September 7.

According to Willy, the emergence of new criticisms actually shows that this bill has made significant progress and there has been a quality dialogue during its discussion.

The Deputy Chair of the Legislative Council also emphasized that dialogue is the main spirit in the discussion of the bill.

"Various studies of different or even contradictory views are sought to find common ground," said Willy.

In addition to the birth of a legal umbrella for hundreds of thousands of victims of sexual violence that is getting closer to being realized, Willy continued, this bill is also intended to make a political culture that is in line with the values of deliberation/representation become the main style in political life.

"The discussion of a bill is not a zero sum game, if someone wins there must be a loser. I hope all parties agree that the phenomenon of sexual violence is very disturbing. Everyone also agrees, not only protecting the important victims but also paying attention to the development of victims in the future," he said. the NasDem politician.

"As for other differences, what is most needed is dialogue steps with an open heart and mind," continued Willy.

Meanwhile, regarding a number of articles that were deleted in the draft TPKS Bill, Willy explained that the team of experts had studied them by also looking at several existing laws such as the Criminal Code, Marriage and Domestic Violence Bill, as well as other laws.

"In principle, what is contained in the law, we will not discuss here (the TPKS Bill)," explained the East Java legislator.

Even if there are criticisms, added Willy, the Panja will not make a problem because the intention and purpose of this bill is dedicated to the good of all the people. "However, it would be better if all had a dialogue. Dialogue for the benefit of us all. Don't insult each other, don't accuse each other of being dishonest and so on," concluded Willy.
