Prevent Covid-19 Transmission, Perform Strict Self-isolation

JAKARTA - The addition of positive cases of COVID-19 today, Sunday, July 5 reached 1,607 people. That way, this figure shows the high rate of virus transmission in Indonesia. This positive number is from the results of the examination of 21,054 specimens.

However, the COVID-19 team strongly believes that some of these new cases do not need intensive care in hospitals. But can isolate independently. The goal is to prevent the spread of the virus from becoming more massive.

"This is important because if this is not carried out properly, it will become a new source of infection in our society," said the Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Achmad Yurianto during a press conference, Jakarta, Sunday, July 5.

He reminded again that people who were confirmed positive but did not need to be treated in the hospital should be strictly isolated.

"In this way, we will be able to decide and secure the person concerned so as not to become a source of infection for the people around him," he continued.

Yurianto asked all parties to work hard to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19. The Central Government and regional task forces will carry out tracing and contact tracing efforts of the positive cases found.

Meanwhile, in addition to preventing transmission, efforts to heal are also continuously pursued by the national and regional task forces. Cases recovered based on today's data (5/7) recorded 886 cases so that the total cases recovered were at 29,105. Yurianto admitted that the total recovery rate was at 45.42 percent.

"If, we look at the global average, it is still below it because today the global average is reported to be 56.71 percent," he said.

However, Yurianto noted that in total there are 11 provinces that already have a cure rate above 75 percent. This means that many patients with COVID-19 have recovered.

Meanwhile, the National Task Force recorded 82 cases per Sunday (5/7), bringing the total number to 3,171 people.

"If we look at the national death rate, our step is at 5 percent. This is also relatively higher than the world average which currently reaches 4.72 percent, "said Yurianto.
