Not Distracted, Recidivists Are Again Encumbered By Law After Stealing Charity Boxes At Darussalam Mosque

SEMARANG – Losing gambling until he ran out of money, a man in Semarang, Central Java was desperate to steal a charity box at the Darussalam Mosque, Mluweh Village, East Ungaran District. Because the mob caught him, the perpetrator named Imron was beaten to a pulp.

The Head of the Subdivision of Public Relations of the Semarang Police, AKP Sugiyarta, said that the suspect, Imron alias Semprong, lives in Rowosari, Semarang City. The 35-year-old man admitted that the reason for stealing was because his money ran out because he lost playing gambling with his friend.

AKP Sugiyarta said that at that time Semprong was driving a Honda Grand H 3928 WS looking for items that could be stolen. When he stopped in front of the Darussalam Mosque, Semprong saw a charity box on the terrace of the mosque.

"He then stole a charity box which was estimated to contain approximately Rp. 300,000 and fled towards Tembalang," Sugiyarta explained to reporters.

Residents at the scene apparently saw Semprong's action taking away the charity box. Then, according to Sugiyarta, several residents who were hanging out saw Semprong in action, then the residents shouted at him.

The frightened suspect then turned around and threw away the charity box. But the perpetrator could not escape. Semprong had to be willing to take a beating from the residents before being handed over to the Ungaran Police Headquarters.

"In Mluweh Village, he was arrested by residents who then reported to members of the Ungaran Police," he explained.

According to Sugiyarta, Imron alias Semprong was taken to the Ungaran Regional Hospital to be checked for his condition. The results of the development, apparently the perpetrators did not steal this once. In 2017 Imron stole a gas cylinder and stole a Honda Vario in 2020. Imron is also known to have served his sentence at the Kedungpane Prison

"We have transferred the suspect to the Banyumanik Police. Because of the incident at the Darussalam Dawung Mosque, Banyumanik Village," he said.
