JAKARTA - Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman said the provincial government had distributed financial assistance to support the development of Tana Toraja Regency as much as Rp285 billion since 2019.

Andi Sudirman in his statement in Makassar, Sunday, said that the large budget disbursed by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government for Tana Toraja cannot be separated from the full support of the South Sulawesi DPRD.

"What we have done from 2019 until now, we continue to help. This is a form of our commitment," he said as quoted by Antara, Sunday, September 5.

He emphasized his commitment to making Toraja an object of development since the beginning of his leadership in 2018.

From 2019 until now, there has been no change in the policy direction to make the tourism and road infrastructure transportation system in Tana Toraja more qualified.

"The DPRD also provides input. We only propose, program, and implement with the Tana Toraja Regional Government. This is done for the benefit and interests of the people," he said.

By 2022, according to Andi Sudirman, the provincial government will focus on building road infrastructure based on policies by prioritizing high average daily traffic (LHR).

"Our motto is to build sustainable and just. There should be no barriers in development, no matter where it comes from. But how can people feel what we are doing," he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Tana Toraja, Theofilus Allorerung, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for Andi Sudirman's presence on the first anniversary in his leadership era with Deputy Regent Zadrak Tombeg.

"Hopefully this will give spirit and inspiration and our enthusiasm (along with the Deputy Regent) in meeting the expectations of the people of Tana Toraja," he said.

"We are here to carry the vision of getting up, being productive and resilient towards a good life order. This vision will be able to mobilize, guide, and inspire all leaders, community leaders, and the community not to be dissolved in the pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic," he explained.
