JAKARTA - The sound of an explosion at the Taman Anggrek mall, on Jalan Letjen S. Parman, Tanjung Duren Selatan, West Jakarta, apparently came from a generator room which was being repaired by technicians.
Black smoke billowed high at the location at around 16:10 WIB. The burning object was successfully extinguished at around 16.47 WIB with the deployment of 5 fire engines.
Tanjung Duren Police Chief Commissioner Rosana Albertina Labobar confirmed the sound of an explosion at the location. But according to him, the sound of the explosion did not come from a bomb or other dangerous object.
"The explosion came from the chimney of the generator engine. Not (a bomb). At the time of the incident, the mall's operations were not disrupted," he told VOI, Thursday, August 2.

Meanwhile, Taman Anggrek Mall Promotion and Advertising Manager Elvira Indriasari said that the explosion came from a regular generator.
