JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has distributed infrastructure, facilities and utilities (PSU) assistance in the form of road construction worth Rp3.6 billion for Papuans.

To be precise, the construction of this road is located within 395 subsidized housing units in three regencies/cities. The three areas are Jayapura Regency, Jayapura City, and Merauke Regency.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the PSU assistance was a stimulant for house builders to build low-income houses (MBR) in order to achieve the target of the One Million Houses Program.

"This program is a tangible form of the government's seriousness in realizing the ideals of fulfilling housing needs for all levels of society, especially affordable and quality housing for low-income people," Basuki said, quoted from the official website of the Cabinet Secretariat, quoted on Thursday, September 2.

Continuing, the Head of the PUPR Ministry's Papua I Housing Provision Center, Faisal Soedarno, said that PSU assistance was distributed so that people living in subsidized houses felt comfortable.

"This assistance is expected to encourage the spirit of developers to build more subsidized houses for the community and encourage the achievement of the One Million Houses Program," said Faisal.

In addition to the construction of environmental roads, PSU assistance can also include the provision of clean water networks and integrated waste disposal sites to housing developers who build MBR housing.

A resident of Nendali Housing, Jayapura Regency, Ichwan (34) expressed his gratitude for the construction of a neighborhood road where he lived.

“Earlier, when it rained, the roads in our place were muddy. Thank God, we are grateful that after this assistance, the housing environment in our place no longer looks shabby, "said Ichawan.

Another resident, Nely (48). “With the help of this PSU, our neighborhood roads look neat and comfortable. Previously, it seemed shabby, especially when it rained the water stagnates,” said Nely.
