JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan , has decided to extend the transitional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) period until July 16, 2020. The extension of this restriction is effective for 14 days from 3 July.

This decision was made based on a joint meeting with the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19, including the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government, the TNI, Polda Metro Jaya, the High Court, and the High Court.

"The transitional PSBB, which means that all activities are still under 50 percent capacity, will be continued in the next 14 days. We will evaluate again after we get the latest developments," said Anies at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, July 1.

Anies explained that, in fact, the condition of COVID-19 in DKI has made it possible to relax towards a new normal period. This is because, based on the results of a study by the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia, the pandemic monitoring indicator has passed the score for relaxation.

There are 3 indicators determined by the World Health Organization (WHO), namely epidemiological conditions, public health, and health facilities. The indicator limit is set with a score of at least 70.

As a result, the epidemiological indicator score in Jakarta is 75, public health has a score of 54, and health facilities have a score of 84. On average, the total score for the DKI indicator is 71.

Then, the number of COVID-19 tests in DKI has passed the normal numbers set by WHO. Where the WHO requires an area to carry out 1,000 tests per 1 million population.

"In Jakarta, with 11 million inhabitants, we have to do 11 thousand tests per week. At least, in the last week, we managed to do 14 thousand tests per 1 million population," said Anies.

"This means that we can commit violations. However, we do not want to relax and then there will be a jump in risky cases. We will see again in the next 2 weeks," he continued.

For information, Anies implemented a transitional PSBB period from 5 June to 2 July, and finally it was extended to 16 July.

During the transitional PSBB, Jakarta is still implementing restrictions by implementing the COVID-19 prevention protocol, but with relaxation. The goal is that people can do activities to fulfill their daily needs.

In detail, almost all activities, including business premises, socio-cultural activities, and transportation, have been reopened, however, they must comply with regulations by reducing capacity by 50 percent and implementing COVID-19 prevention protocols.

However, there are activities that have not yet been decided to open. These activities are religious activities with mass gathering, schools, gyms, swimming pools, night markets, folk festivals, beauty clinics, salons, conference halls, wedding and circumcision receptions, cinemas, night entertainment, butuk, and the like.
