Formula E Interpellation Profits Anies, PDIP: Governor Can Express Thoughts With Beautiful Words

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD Gembong Warsono assesses that if an interpellation on Formula E occurs, it will actually benefit the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.

In DKI DPRD Regulation Number 1 of 2014 concerning DPRD Regulations, interpellation is the right of DPRD to request information from the Governor regarding important and strategic local government policies, and have broad impacts.

According to Gembong, if Anies considers Formula E to be beneficial for Jakarta, both economically and socially, then providing answers to questions raised by the DPRD can become a stage for Anies to explain the organization of the racing event.

"In fact, if this interpellation is responded to in a good way, this is the Governor's space to express his thoughts to the people of Jakarta. We provide that stage. He can convey thoughts related to Formula E to the people of Jakarta with beautiful words," said Gembong in the building. DPRD DKI, Tuesday, August 31.

So, Gembong denied that interpellation was considered a way to bring down Anies' name. Moreover, this interpellation is the right for the DPRD to ask questions about the reasons why Anies is adamant in holding Formula E.

This is because the COVID-19 pandemic is still going on. The government must prioritize the handling of health and the economic downturn of the people who have not recovered due to the current pandemic.

"The right to ask questions is inherent in all members of the DPRD. Meanwhile, in front of our eyes, the provincial government's policy in the context of implementing Formula E is not right at a time when people are having difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Why are you invited to watch the race with a hungry stomach?" It is known that the PDIP and PSI factions have submitted an interpellation right proposal to Anies regarding Formula E. Interpellation is the right to ask DPRD about a program that must be answered by the Governor.

However, it doesn't stop there. The DPRD will still hold a plenary meeting to determine whether the interpellation can be held. In order for the interpellation to take place, the DPRD members present at the plenary meeting must meet a quorum of 50 percent + 1 or as many as 54 DPRD members.

Currently, there are only 33 DPRD members from two factions who have proposed the interpellation of Formula E. Therefore, PDIP and PSI will lobby DPRD members from other factions to participate in plenary meetings.
