Witness Victim Of Official Extortion Case In Solo Will Be Called By Police

JAKARTA - The Investigation Team of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Surakarta City Police, Central Java, summoned a victim witness with the initials Tm for questioning regarding the case of extorting officials from the local City Government.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Surakarta Police have sent a summons to the victim's witness (Tm) for questioning regarding the extortion case with the suspect with the initials AS (39), a resident of Pasar Kliwon Solo.

"We have sent a letter calling for the victim witness (Tm), as to the office within the Surakarta City Government, this Monday. The victim witness Tm will be examined because he was the only one who reported the case," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Surakarta Police AKP Djohan Andika, in Surakarta Police Headquarters, reported by Antara, Monday, August 30.

Two other officials with the initials Ts and Hw in the Surakarta City Government were also victims. Although they have not reported yet, they will be summoned for questioning to add witness testimony, he said.

He appealed if there are other officials or the people of Solo City who feel they are victims of extortion cases carried out by the suspect, immediately report them to the police.

According to him, the witness testimony will be equated with the suspect's statement for the examination procedure file (BAP), which will then be transferred to the Surakarta District Attorney.

In addition, his party will print a bank statement from the account belonging to the suspect's sister who is suspected of being the perpetrator to receive extortion money from the victims.

"We are currently investigating the case, if there are other parties involved," he said. The arrest of the perpetrator of the extortion case with the initials AS (40), a resident of Pasar Kliwon Solo, was led directly by the Head of Sub-Directorate 3 of Jatanras Polda Central Java AKBP Agus Puryadi, at his boarding house and is now being held at the Surakarta Police Headquarters for legal proceedings.

The extortion case began with a report from an office head within the Surakarta City Government with the initials Tm who reported to the police that he was blackmailed by a person with the initials AS.

The perpetrator admitted that someone close to the former mayor then asked the victim for some money, which he said was for hospital fees and so on. This has been done by the suspect since July 2021 until five times the amount of Rp60 million has been transferred.

"Actually, the US and Tm already knew each other. However, the US claimed to be named Edi Pucang Sawit. In fact, the victim had avoided changing his cellphone number, but the perpetrators still knew the new number," said Agus Purwadi when submitting this extortion case to the Sat Reskrim Polresta Surakarta.
