Surprised By Probolinggo Regent And Husband Netted By KPK OTT, Head Of NasDem Faction: Hasan Aminuddin Good People

JAKARTA - The chairman of the NasDem faction of the DPR, Ahmad Ali, admitted that he was surprised that party cadres who are also members of the NasDem faction, Hasan Aminuddin, were caught by the KPK's Hand Capture Operation (OTT). The KPK arrested the Regent of Probolinggo who is also Hasan's wife, Puput Tantriana Sari, Sunday, August 29, early in the morning.

According to Ali, Hasan, who sits as Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the DPR, is known as a good person. However, he said, NasDem still respects the ongoing legal process at the KPK.

"As far as I know, he is a good person. But we are still waiting for this process to be completed,” Ali told reporters, Monday, August 30.

Although still waiting for complete information and an official decision, Ali emphasized that NasDem already has its own standard operating procedure (SOP) if any of their cadres are caught by the KPK OTT. If he becomes a suspect, then the person concerned must resign from the party.

"But we can't speculate. We are still waiting for the KPK's official stance," he said.

Hasan Aminuddin is a member of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period from the NasDem Faction. Currently Hasan is the Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the DPR.

Prior to becoming a member of the DPR, Hasan was the Regent of Probolinggo for two terms from 2003-2008 and 2008-2013. He was also the chairman of the Probolinggo Regency House of Representatives for the 1999-2003 period of the National Awakening Party.

Hasan was listed as Chairman of the East Java DPW PKB since 2007-2009. A year later he served as Chairman of the DPW of the East Java NasDem Ormas.

Meanwhile, his wife, Puput Tantriana Sari, has been the Regent of Probolinggo since 2013 with the support of the NasDem Party. However, Ahmad Ali has not been able to confirm whether Puput is a NasDem cadre or only promoted.

“Usually if the husband is NasDem, the wife is too. But I have to check first,” said Ahmad Ali.
