Recalling Yayah Waloni, Who Became A Suspect In The Alleged Blasphemy Of Religion Until He Was Dismissed Because Of Illness

JAKARTA - Ustaz Yahya Waloni has recently become a concern. Because he was arrested for being involved in an alleged blasphemy case.

Yahya's arrest was made at his residence in Permata Housing, Cluster Dragon, Cileungsi, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Thursday, August 26.

The basis for the arrest was the police report (LP) number LP/B/0287/IV/2021/BARESKRIM dated April 27, 2021. In the report, Yahya was deemed to have insulted the Bible in his lecture.

Although Yahya was arrested recently, it turns out that he had long been named a suspect in the case.

Karo Penmas of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, said that the determination of the suspect against Yahya Waloni had been carried out since May 2021.

"That's been the process since April, in May the investigation has been increased and has become a suspect," said Rusdi.

However, Rusdi did not deny that the time span from the determination of the suspect to the arrest was quite far. But it is emphasized, in the process of arresting investigators must prepare various things.

So, when the arrest process does not violate the applicable procedures and rules.

"Yes, all processes, the National Police must be professional. Talking about professionals must carefully carry out all of this. This is done, the important thing is that all reports are responded to," said Rusdi.

"Processed by the Police in accordance with applicable regulations, that's the most important thing," he continued.

Shortly after being arrested, just a few hours later, investigators immediately took Yahya Waloni to the Police Hospital, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. Because his health condition declined drastically.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Argo Yuwono said that based on the results of the medical team's examination, Yahya was known to have a history of heart disease. Moreover, even before being examined, Yahya complained of shortness of breath.

"Heart swelling," said Argo.

With his health condition that needed attention and treatment, it was decided that Yahya Waloni was sent to the hospital. This means that Yahya is not being held in a detention cell but in a hospital.

However, it remains under the supervision of investigators. Of course, the media team also monitors the progress of his health.

"The suspect MYW was detained last night. His status has been detained, but because of his health he has been sent to the Police Hospital," said Argo.

On the other hand, the attorney, Yahya Waloni, Abdullah Alkatiri said that his client's illness had been suffering for a long time. In fact, long before there was a case involving him.

"It's been a long time, it's been a disease that Pak Yahya has suffered for a long time," said Alkatiri.

In fact, Alkatiri said that four days before being arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department, his client had just returned from the hospital after being treated for the heart disease. Because of that, he denied that Yahya Waloni was playing a play related to the disease.

"He has just returned from the hospital. But that does not mean he has recovered, only his condition improved when he returned home," said Alakiri.

For now, Alkatiri said that his client's condition had shown good progress. But still need to undergo medical treatment.

"Still resting but has started to improve," said Alkatiri.
