Jambi Governor Inaugurates His High School Teacher To Become Merangin Regent

MERANGIN - Jambi Governor H Al Haris inaugurated his teacher H Mashuri as Regent of Merangin for the remainder of the 2018-2023 term of service.

Mashuri, who was previously the Acting Regent of Merangin, was Al Haris' teacher when he was still a student at SMA Dharma Bhakti Bangko, Merangin Regency. He was also Haris' deputy while serving as the Regent of Merangin.

The inauguration of the Merangin Regent was carried out for the first time in the district capital with strict health protocols. Meanwhile, the five other regents and vice-regents in Jambi who were sworn in this year were all sworn in at the Jambi Governor's Office House in Jambi City due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jambi Governor H Al Haris after the inauguration of the Merangin Regent emphasized that he would strengthen the work of the Merangin COVID-19 Task Force in collaboration with the Merangin Forkopimda.

"I will always monitor the development of Merangin from Jambi. I am confident in Pak Mashuri's ability to carry out the Merangin Steady 2023 vision and mission," said Governor Al Haris, quoted by Antara, Saturday, August 28.

Meanwhile, the Merangin Regent H Mashuri admitted that the remaining two years of his term of office would be accelerated, pursuing the Merangin Mantap 2023 vision and mission targets, excelling in tourism and agriculture, and accelerating the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We will expand and pursue the COVID-19 vaccination target of 265,000 people, of which only 27 percent or 68,000 people have received the second dose of COCID-19 vaccine," said the regent.

The Regent hopes that the community, state civil servants, and the media will work together to improve the welfare of the people of Merangin Regency.

Regarding the position of deputy regent who will accompany him in students for the next two years, Mashuri submits his deputy candidate to the political party that carries it.

"It is completely up to the supporting party to propose it," said Mashuri.

In the field of government, according to H Mashuri, it is currently in the process of being assessed and has already recruited seven people for the selection of the regional secretary.

The Merangin Regency Government is also waiting for the results of an assessment conducted by the Jambi Provincial Government for Merangin's second echelon officials.

"I don't want to rush in inaugurating second echelon officials, because if any of our officials pass the Jambi Provincial Government assessment, there will be another vacancy and they will have to conduct repeated assessments to fill the vacancy," explained the Regent.
