28 People In Riau Infected With COVID-19 Delta Variant

PEKANBARU - Director of the Arifin Ahmad Hospital, Dr. Nuzelly, said that so far, 28 patients have been infected with the delta variant of COVID-19 in Riau.

"We sent a lot of samples, the last one that came out was 22 people in July 2021 and there are still many samples that are awaited. If the total positive for the delta variant reaches 28 people," Nuzelly said in Pekanbaru quoted by Antara, Friday, August 27.

Nuzelly said that his party was indeed proposing to purchase a delta variant of the COVID-19 detection device, but even then, it was still waiting for the device to arrive.

"Yes, we have also coordinated with Balitbang for the application for the purchase of the tool, but we are still waiting," said Nuzelly.

Meanwhile, Riau Governor Syamsuar said the delta variant of the COVID-19 detection device was purchased because the Riau Provincial Government has been waiting too long for the results of the swab examination of patients with an indication of the delta variant, and even now, there are several samples that are waiting for the results from the center.

"The results are late because we don't have a tool that can detect the new variant, so we just buy it ourselves," said Syamsuar.

Syamsuar explained, in the first report, there were 6 people detected with delta variants from the PCR swab in May 2021, while the new report was 22 people with PCR swab results in July 2021," he said.
