7 DPRD Factions Reject Interpellation After Meeting Anies, PDIP Insinuates Them: Coalition Troubled!

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD, Gembong Warsono, responded to the meeting between the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan and representatives of 7 DPRD factions other than PDIP and PSI last night.

Gembong wondered why the meeting was only held after PDIP and PSI proposed interpellation regarding Formula E. Moreover, after the meeting, the seven factions agreed to refuse to participate in the interpellation.

"For four years, how come the gathering has only been done once? And at that time the two factions who were not invited were applying for the right of interpellation to the Governor," said Gembong when contacted, Friday, August 27.

Gembong then insinuated the Gerindra faction, PAN, Democrats, PKS, Golkar, NasDem, and PKB-PPP as "a coalition of confusion". He meant that previously the seven factions viewed Formula E as unfit to be held in 2022. However, after having a meeting with Anies, they stated that they refused the interpellation.

"We have communicated a lot and the results of their views generally agree that in 2022 it is not appropriate for Jakarta to hold Formula E because the pandemic situation has not yet ended," said Gembong.

"It means, if my language is a joke, it means there is a confused coalition. Even though other faction friends actually agree that Formula E is not feasible in 2022," he continued.

Furthermore, Gembong considered that the meeting held between Anies and the seven factions indicated that there was concern from the executive that Formula E would not be approved by the DPRD.

"Until this confused coalition occurs, it actually indicates that there is something that the Provincial Government is worried about. How come the gathering coincided with the submission of the right of interpellation with the two factions. This marks a big question mark for the initiator of last night's meeting," he said.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Mohamad Taufik, admitted that seven factions of the DKI DPRD refused to submit an interview to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan regarding Formula E.

Taufik said this decision was agreed after seven factions other than PDIP and PSI were invited to a meeting at Anies' official residence last night.

"The agreement of 7 factions, namely Gerindra, PKS, Democrat, PAN, NasDem, PKB-PPP with 73 members does not participate in the interview," said Taufik when contacted.
