The National Police Chief Invites Islamic Boarding Schools To Work Together To Cope With COVID-19

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo invites Islamic boarding schools (ponpes) to work together to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was conveyed by the National Police Chief when reviewing mass vaccinations at the Tebu Ireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, East Java. Together with the TNI Commander Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto, Sigit saw firsthand the implementation of the simultaneous vaccination, which was attended by 41 Islamic boarding schools throughout East Java.

"Let's work together to fight COVID-19, we save our families, we save our society, we save our brothers and sisters," Sigit said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 25.

According to Sigit, the active role of the Islamic boarding school community in conducting mass vaccinations as an effort to overcome the COVID-29 pandemic, has been willing to help realize President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) target regarding the national vaccination acceleration program.

With this activity, Sigit hopes that Islamic boarding schools in other areas will also do the same. Because, to accelerate the realization of herd immunity or communal immunity, cooperation and mutual cooperation between the government and all elements of society are needed.

"It is hoped that this vaccination activity will set an example for other Islamic boarding schools to carry out similar activities," said the National Police Chief.

The National Police Chief explained, based on data from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) as of August 24 at 18.00 WIB, the national vaccination achievement has reached 28.19 percent for the first dose and 15.75 percent for the second dose of the total vaccine target of 208,265,720 people.

Meanwhile, the vaccination achievement in Jombang Regency, East Java, continued Sigit, was 56.25 percent in the first dose and 36.71 percent in the second dose of the total number of vaccination targets, which were 1,019,942 people.

"Seeing this achievement, I invite all elements of society, especially the people of Jombang Regency, let's together take the time to carry out vaccination programs in places provided by the government to achieve 100 percent of doses I and II for 'herd immunity', especially in Jombang Regency can be realized soon," said the National Police Chief.
