Inkrah's Verdict, Jiwasraya Corruption Defendants Executed Including Benny Tjokro And Heru Hidayat

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) executed the defendants in the Jiwasraya corruption case who had submitted an appeal to the Supreme Court (MA). The defendant's appeal was rejected.

"Today, the Chief Prosecutor of the Central Jakarta District has appointed an executor of the prosecutor to carry out the execution. At around 3 pm today, the executor's prosecutor has carried out the execution," said the Head of the AGO, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, to reporters, Wednesday, August 25.

Leonard detailed that the defendants Heru Hidayat, Syahmirwan, and Joko Hartono Tirto were placed in the Cipinang state detention house. Then, Hary Prasetyo and Hendrisman Rahim were placed in the Salemba detention center.

"Hendrisman Rahim was transferred from the KPK detention center to Salemba," said Leonard.

Meanwhile, Benny Tjokrosaputro was executed in a different place from the others. He was placed in the Cipinang Correctional Institution (Lapas).

This execution was carried out after the Central Jakarta District Attorney received a copy of the decision of the Supreme Court (MA) which had been signed.

Where, for Benny Tjokrosaputro and Heru Hidayat were declared to remain with a life sentence after the Supreme Court rejected the appeal of both.

Then for the defendants Joko Hartono Tirto, Hary Prasetyo and Hendrisman Rahim, it was decided that each of them served a prison sentence of 20 years and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary of 6 months.

"The defendant, on behalf of Syahmirwan, was sentenced to 18 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary of 6 months," said Leonard.

In addition, Leonard emphasized that if the defendants continued to take legal action by submitting a judicial review (PK), it would not affect the executions carried out.

"Not suspending the execution of the execution prosecutor in accordance with Article 66 paragraph 2 of the Law which was amended by Law number 5 of 2004. Where, the PK application does not suspend or implement a criminal decision," said Leonard
