JAKARTA - Indonesia has again received assistance for handling COVID-19 from India. This time, it was the turn of ten isotank units for liquid medical oxygen (LMO) with a loan scheme.

The 10 units of isotanks, each with a capacity of 2-metric tons (MT) were brought using the warship (INS) Airavat (L24), arriving at Tanjung Priok Port, Tuesday, August 24.

"The aid was handed over by the Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, YM Manoj Kumar Bharti, to the Ministry of Health represented by Acting Head of the Health Crisis Center Dr. Sumarjaya," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

According to the plan, the isotanks have been handed over to the Ministry of Health and will be directly distributed to East Java, DIY and Sumatra with the support of transportation facilities from PT Pertamina.

Pls. Kapuskris of the Ministry of Health expressed his appreciation to the Indian side for the delivery of this second aid, and hoped that the cooperation between the two countries could continue to be strengthened and expanded, both during the pandemic, and in the future.

"This support once again proves the closeness of the two countries, not only geographically, but also in partnership in strategic fields," said the Indian Ambassador to Indonesia YM Manoj Kumar Bharti.

As a strategic comprehensive partner, which has close historical and cultural roots, the Government of Indonesia expresses its appreciation and gratitude to the Government of India for the assistance that was again delivered in the context of handling COVID-19.

Previously, on July 24, 2021, the Government of India had also provided a grant to Indonesia in the form of 300 (three hundred units) oxygen concentrators and 100 MT LMO for handling COVID-19.

To note, as with the delivery of aid this time, the delivery of aid last July was also carried out by deploying the warship (INS) Airavat (L24) belonging to the Indian Navy.

Indonesia and India will continue to be committed to strengthening and developing cooperation in various fields, both in the bilateral, regional and multilateral scope, as well as working hand in hand in efforts to restore economic and health conditions affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
