Print Positive Trends In Decreasing COVID-19 Cases, Mataram Is Optimistic That PPKM Will Drop To Level 2

MATARAM - The City Government of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is optimistic that the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) will decrease from level three to level two.

"By looking at the scenario of handling the COVID-19 pandemic during level three which gives quite good results, we are optimistic that it will drop to level two or the COVID-19 yellow zone," Head of the Mataram City Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) I Nyoman Swandiasa in Mataram, Antara. , Monday, August 23.

According to Swandiasa, several developments in the prevention of COVID-19 during level three, among others, the bed occupancy rate (BOR) in Mataram City fell significantly to 27 percent from the previous 40 percent.

"This is one of the benchmarks that the scenario for handling the COVID-19 pandemic in Mataram City is quite good, so we expect to be able to go down to level two," he said.

In addition, the vaccination coverage in Mataram City was already above 50 percent with the realization of 56.33 percent for the first dose, while the second dose reached 31.32 percent of the targeted vaccination target of around 300,000 people or 70 percent of the population of Mataram City.

While related to the findings of new positive cases of COVID-19, he said, currently it is still fluctuating, but the cure rate has also increased to around 90 percent.

Based on data from the NTB Province COVID-19 alert team, Sunday (22/8-2021), 47 additional COVID-19 patients for Mataram City and 61 COVID-19 patients were declared cured.

"Thus, the number of patients who are still in isolation is 436, 5,815 have recovered and 209 people have died out of a total of 6,459 cases," he said.

Furthermore, Swandiasa said, if Mataram City drops to level two, the city government will again adjust PPKM regulations according to level two PPKM.

For example, for economic activity which is now limited to only 25 percent, after level two it may be adjusted to 50-75 percent by continuing to apply health protocols.

"Thus, the decline in the level has an impact on economic and social problems in general," he said.
