JAKARTA - Having the support of both parents in Lampung, the spirit of Rendy Firnando Pratama (22) continues to burn when there is an opportunity to become a volunteer vaccinator for precision vaccination and independent vaccination at the Central Jakarta Metro Police.
After completing his education at a health school in Bekasi, Rendy became a volunteer for COVID-19 vaccinators for 1 month in Jakarta.
The hard work of humanitarian activities carried out by Rendy also bears sweet fruit. The man who was born in Lampung received a certificate award directly from the Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Hengki Haryadi.
"I'm very happy, especially (a certificate) from the Head of the Police directly. People should not be afraid to get vaccinated, because vaccines are halal," Rendy said when confirmed by VOI, Sunday, August 22.
Getting an award from the Chief of Police made Rendy feel proud. The reason is, Rendy thought that the social activities he carried out were only humanitarian actions.
"Initially, we as volunteers were just ordinary, we continued to get certificates so we were happy to be able to help each other. I hope this pandemic will end soon and vaccinations in Jakarta can be completed," he said.
The man, the eldest of three children, works in the Mangga Dua vaccination center, Sawah Besar, and the Gambir area. Being a vaccinator for Rendy is a challenge that must be conquered. The reason, he must always be ready at certain times.
"If there is a shortage of vaccines, we have to find our own vaccines so that the doses are right. We are also looking for door-to-door residents who have not been vaccinated. Public interest is high, sometimes 200 people are vaccinated. On average, there are at least 70 vaccine participants," he said.

The man, who previously worked at a clinic in the Gatot Subroto area, first joined as a volunteer at the invitation of his colleague. Even though he had refused, Rendy was finally interested in becoming a vaccinator.
"I was a health worker at the clinic, at first the clinic was quiet especially during the PPKM period. Instead of having no work and no benefits, I'd rather use it to help the community," he said.
Although being a volunteer vaccinator does not get paid, Rendy admits that he is still happy. Moreover, his parents support if Rendy becomes a vaccine volunteer.
"Everything is in God's hands, if you want to help immediately don't be afraid. That enthusiasm comes when you see a lot of patients being vaccinated. I've been a volunteer for 1 month since precision vaccines and vaccines became independent. This is the first time I got an award, so I'm very happy," he said.
Meanwhile, Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Hengky Haryadi said the number of volunteers and health workers (Nakes) in Central Jakarta was 1500 people. They jointly carry out humanitarian social activities.
"We give appreciation in the form of certificates to the volunteers. In the first stage, this has helped the implementation of the independent vaccine.
According to Hengky, this moment is extraordinary and deserves appreciation. Because, he continued, their willingness to sincerely help the implementation of vaccinations in order to achieve herd immunity.
This social activity, he continued, is part of a humanitarian operation.
"Alhamdulillah, everything feels light. The point is on the pentahelic concept, togetherness where collaboration between the government and community components, business actors, doctors, volunteers, administration, including the media in giving hope and enthusiasm to the community in facing the pandemic. This means that COVID-19 is the enemy together," he said.
