SOLO - The Surakarta City Government invites and asks a number of neighboring areas to work together in handling COVID-19 in Soloraya so that the results are more optimal.

Deputy Mayor of Surakarta, Teguh Prakosa, said that the City of Solo itself was part of the agglomeration of the former Surakarta Residency so that it was obliged to participate in suppressing the rate of COVID-19 cases in the region.

Teguh Prakosa said that so far, several areas in Soloraya recorded a high number of COVID-19 cases, including Sragen, Klaten and Boyolali Regencies.

"If the three cases are normal, it will fall below 1,000 cases, I think next week we will be at level 3," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 20.

In accordance with the Circular (SE) of the Mayor of Surakarta Number 067/2567 concerning the Implementation of Level 4 COVID-19 Community Activity Restrictions in the City of Surakarta which was issued on Tuesday, August 17, so far the City of Solo is still at level 4.

As a result of the high number of cases in these areas, he said, mobility restrictions are still being applied at a number of points with the aim of reducing community activities.

Meanwhile, as part of Solo's concern for the surrounding area, he said, the Surakarta City Government recently distributed hundreds of oxygen concentrators in every district in Soloraya.

"Incidentally, our oxygen concentrator has excess, if it is useful, we will provide it. Its use can be for isoman or used in hospitals. If tomorrow we have any excess, we will be assisted again," he said.

However, specifically for the stock of vaccines, he said, it will still be prioritized for the City of Solo itself considering that so far the vaccination achievement has not met the target.

"We use all of the vaccines in Solo, the target is also residents from outside the area such as market traders and other employees. Even for those from outside the area it can be up to 20 percent," said Teguh Prakosa.
