COVID-19 Update As Of August 20: 20,004 New Cases From Examination Of 202,484 Specimens

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 202,484 specimens were examined with the result that there were 20,004 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 3,950,304 people and active cases are 327,286," as quoted from Ministry of Health data, Friday, August 20.

Today's recovered cases increased by 26,122 cases, bringing the total to 3,499,037 people recovered. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 1,348 people and a total of 123,981 people.

The province with the most new cases was in West Java with 2,742 cases and a total of 666,163 cases. Followed by East Java which has 2,508 new cases with a total of 368,969 cases. North Sumatra has 1,481 new cases and a total of 86,877 cases. Then, Central Java had 1,432 new cases and a total of 460,121 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to East Java with an additional 3,347 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 3,071 recovered cases, DI Yogyakarta with an additional 2,347 recovered cases, and East Kalimantan with an additional 1,434 recovered cases.

No province has reported no new cases as of today. In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens has reached 30,213,170.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 21.62 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 269,480 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 56,504,055 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 30,753,137 people have received the second dose of vaccination. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
