Police Officers In Bali Sueded 15 Years In Prison Case Of Methamphetamine Possession

DENPASAR - The public prosecutor charged a police officer in Bali named, I Gusti Ngurah Menara, with 15 years in prison for possession of 52 packages of methamphetamine with a total weight of 84.34 grams.

"Demanding, stating that the defendant is proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act, namely unlawfully or unlawfully possessing, storing, controlling or providing Narcotics Category I, not plants", said Public Prosecutor, Made Ayu Citra Maya Sari, in a virtual hearing at the Denpasar District Court, Bali, quoted by Antara, Thursday, August 19.

The prosecutor demanded that the defendant be sentenced to 15 years in prison, reduced while the defendant was in custody, and a fine of IDR 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

In this case, the defendant is subject to Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which is the second alternative indictment of the Public Prosecutor.

From the defendant, evidence was obtained in the form of 52 plastic clips, each plastic clip containing clear crystals containing methamphetamine with a total net weight of 84.34 grams.

Previously, the defendant was arrested on Saturday, May 8, 2021, in front of the Al Furqon Mosque, Gatot Subroto Barat Street, Banjar Dukuh Sari, Padangsambian Kaja Village, West Denpasar District, Denpasar City.

The officers then searched the defendant and continued at the defendant's house in the Tabanan Regency, Bali.

In addition, the defendant admitted that the narcotics were obtained from a person named Putu (DPO/wanted list). Previously, on Friday, May 7, 2021, Putu (DPO) asked the defendant to take a package of methamphetamine weighing 100 grams, which was further divided into 51 packages and one package.

The defendant, who is also accompanied by a lawyer from the Denpasar Posbakum, Ni Wayan Pipit Prabhawanty, will submit a plea in the next trial.
