JAKARTA - The positions of the Director General of Mineral and Coal (Dirjen Minerba) and the Director General of Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) have been vacant since April. Both positions are vacant because the previous official has retired.

In order to fill the second position, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources conducted an auction. Currently, the auction process is still ongoing and has already conducted tests to name a few. Thus, it is certain that the two positions will soon be filled by definitive officials.

The position of Director General of Mineral and Coal was previously filled by Bambang Gatot Aryono, who retired since June 1. Meanwhile, the Director General of Oil and Gas was filled by Djoko Siswanto. He served from 2014 to 2019. However, in July 2019 Djoko was appointed as Acting Director General of Oil and Gas.

When the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources was occupied by Ignatius Jonan, this auction process was already underway. However, after changing ministers to Arifin Tasrif, he has not yet found anyone to fill the two positions
