Remember! Children Under 12 Years Old Are Still Prohibited From Using Long-distance Trains

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is still implementing strict requirements for traveling by train during the extension period of PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) Level 4 set by the government until August 23, 2021. One of them is a ban on children under 12 years old not being allowed to take long-distance trains.

"KAI is still guided by Circular Letter regulation No. 17/2021 on the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, one of which is that customers under the age of 12 are temporarily not allowed to travel by long-distance trains", said KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus in a statement, Antara, Wednesday, August 18th.

There are still many customers who bring children under 12 years old to the station to take long-distance trains, but KAI firmly refuses to leave customers.

In the period from August 10-17, there were 1,925 potential customers under the age of 12 who were refused to go by long-distance train.

Meanwhile, the total number of rejected customers in that period was 4,727 potential customers.

In addition to being under 12 years old, prospective customers are refused to leave because they do not meet other requirements, such as not carrying a vaccine card or a valid certificate of negative RT-PCR/Rapid Test Antigen test results.

"Customers who do not meet the requirements are not allowed to travel and tickets will be returned 100 percent", said Joni.

KAI recorded the number of long-distance and local train customers in the period 10-17 August as many as 140,358 customers, with an average daily customer of 17,545 customers.

Meanwhile, when compared to the average daily customers for long-distance and local trains in the period before PPKM, namely in June 2021, which was 86,514 customers, long-distance and local train customers on August 10-17 fell 79.7 percent.
